By SD MARTINS, GUSAU

Senator Abdulaziz Yari (APC Zamfara) has called on religious leaders in the state to intensify prayers for lasting peace and to guide their followers against aiding criminality in the state.

Speaking during a meeting with Imams and Islamic scholars (Ulama) at his residence in Talata Mafara, Yari emphasized the critical role of religious leaders in shaping public attitude towards discouraging criminality in the domain.

Security forces have accused members of several communities of providing relevant information to bandits in parts of the State.

The development had led to bandits attacks on several individuals and communities demanding for ransom from families of victims.

Yari, however, urged Ulama to remain law-abiding and support ongoing efforts by the government to address the insecurity that had bedevilled the state for more than a decade.

He noted that peace required collective responsibility, prayers, and cooperation from all stakeholders.

Speaking at the event Gov. Dauda Lawal who was represented by the state Deputy Governor, Mani Malam Mumini commended the Clerics for their continued prayers, guidance, and unwavering support toward the progress and stability of the state.

Lawal reaffirmed his commitment to tackling insecurity and improving the socio-economic well-being of the people.

He further highlighted key achievements of the current administration, including:

Increment in allowances for over 11,500 Ulamas across the state.
Renovation and construction of Juma’at mosques in various communities.

Provision of 40 modern vehicles to support religious and community engagements,
establishment of Hisbah offices across the 14 Local Government Areas

Lawal said that the state government was working diligently to complete inherited projects from past administrations as part of its broader agenda to drive economic development and progress of the State.

Speaking on behalf of the clerics, Liman Alhaji Sambo and Liman Salihu Alero, assured of continued support and prayers for the success of the state and its people.

They emphasized that peace, security, and economic development were collective responsibilities, urging all citizens to remain law-abiding and adhere to the teachings and commandments of Almighty Allah.

The gathering concluded with special prayers offered for peace, and an end to insecurity in Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.###
