Sultan urges Muslims to loo for new Moon of Zulki’ida on Friday

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Muslims across the country to look out for the new moon of Zulki’ida 1447AH.
This is contained in a press statement signed by the Wazirin Sokoto, Sambo Wali Junaidu, who is also the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto.
According to the statement, Friday, April 17, 2026, corresponding to the 29th day of Shawwal 1447AH, has been designated for the sighting of the new crescent.
it urged Muslims to look for the new moon of Zulkida and report any sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultan.
