CP SOKOTO ADVANCES COMMUNITY POLICING, HOSTS IGBO TRADERS, YORUBA COUNCIL, AND PCRC ZONE 10

In line with the Inspector-General of Police’s IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu psc,(+),NPM directive to bring communities closer to the police, the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, Cp Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, psc, mnips has hosted three major community groups in separate meetings at the command headquarters.
The engagements held at different times aimed to strengthen the state’s security architecture, foster trust, and enhance the flow of credible intelligence between the public and law enforcement.
The Commissioner welcomed:
· Apex Igbo Traders Union, led by its Chairman, Mr. Chigoze Chiko Chema;
· Yoruba Community Council, led by its President, Mr. Adegbome Bolaji Kama; and
· Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Zone 10, Sokoto, led by Alhaji Mijinyawa Bello.
During the discussions,CP Shaffa emphasized the critical role of community partnerships in crime prevention and detection. He urged each group to serve as reliable channels for gathering and sharing actionable intelligence, while reassuring them of the Command’s commitment to protecting all law-abiding residents irrespective of ethnic or trade affiliation.
“The IGP’s vision is clear policing must be a shared responsibility. These visits reflect our collective resolve to build a safer Sokoto through dialogue, trust, and timely information sharing,” the CP stated.
The leaders of the three delegations separately commended the Command’s open-door policy and pledged their groups’ full cooperation in supporting security operations.
The Police Command reiterated its call on all residents and community based organizations to report suspicious activities through the nearest police station or designated emergency lines.
