Caliphate Bar Law Week winds up as Sokoto Govt. commits to speedy dispensation of justice, respect for rule of law

The week-long activities of the Caliphate Bar Law Week were rounded up on Friday night in Sokoto with a dinner, just as the state government restated its commitment to ensuring the speedy dispensation of justice and respect for the rule of law.
Our Correspondent reports that the week-long activities that were successfully conducted were part of the 2026 Law Week of the Sokoto State chapter of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA).
The week had as theme, “Secured Nation, Secured Future’.
Speaking at the dinner, an elated Chief Judge (CJ), Sokoto State, Justice Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa, extolled the existing cordial relationship between the Bar and the Bench in the state
He said: “The relationship between. The Bar and the Bench has always been very cordial.We are just like a family, whatever affects them, affects us.
According to Justice Sifawa, the success of the week-long activities of the Caliphate Bar Law Week was unparalleled in the history of any chapter of the NBA across Nigeria.
The CJ further applauded Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his sustained invaluable support to not only the NBA but to the Judiciary as a whole.
“He has been very supportive. Whenever we approach him for any support, he has been there for us
‘” He has appointed many Judges and we now have 24 Judges. We don’t have a y problem,” Justice Sifawa declared.
The President of the NBA, Mazi Afam Osigwen, SAN, who expressed delight with the success of the week, further lauded Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his unprecedented support to the association and the Judiciary in general.
According to him, the extant cordial relationship between the Bar and the Bench in Sokoto State is also commendable just as it is worthy of emulation by other states.
Osigwen also appealed to Lawyers across the country to strive to ensure the use of law to bolster the protection of the lives and properties of Nigerians, adding, “we should always use law to have a just a society.”
The Chairman of the Planning Committee of the week, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim,SAN,
expressed happiness that the epochal week has been very successful and unique.
The renowned legal luminary also said that the dinner was organized to wind up and celebrate the common bond between the members, saying, “it is a toast to to the unity between the Bar and the Bench in the state.”
While appreciating the remarkable support of all and sundry, Ibrahim particularly applauded Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his sustained support to the NBA at all times.
He also commended the Chief Judge for always been a never-tiring father to the NBA, adding, “he has been a father, mentor and a relentless benefactor.”
The Chairperson of the NBA in Sokoto State, Barrister Rashidat Mohammed, said that she was elated with how the week was of International standard, appreciating the state government for its
 colossal support.
She also came commended the Chief Judge, Justice Sa’idu Sifawa, for always been on the side of the NBA, explaining that the dinner was to celebrate excellence, appreciate colleagues and benefactors.
Mohammed vowed that the cordial relationship between the Bar and the Bench, will be sustained, adding, “we will continue to work as a family and be supportive to each other.”
Our Correspondent further reports that various awards were doled out to a myriad of deserving members of the NBA and other critical stakeholders, including the Minister of State, Works, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo.
