The Emir of Gwandu and Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Ilyasu Bashar, alongside the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, have declared their full support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Governor Nasir Idris paid separate courtesy visits to the two revered traditional rulers on Saturday shortly after participating in the APC Direct Presidential Primary Election activities held in selected wards across Birnin Kebbi and Argungu Local Government Areas.

The Governor was accompanied by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and immediate past Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, former Governor, Ambassador Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakingari, member of the House of Representatives, Bello A Kaoje, APC leaders, and top government officials.

Speaking at his palace in Birnin Kebbi, the Emir of Gwandu recalled his long-standing relationship with prominent national leaders, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that leadership is built on trust, sincerity, and closeness to the people.

He noted that Governor Nasir Idris had demonstrated humility, patience, and commitment to the welfare of the people — qualities that have endeared him to the traditional institution and the citizens of the state.

The Emir stated that the people of Kebbi State remained solidly behind Governor Idris and President Tinubu because of the visible impact of their leadership, their commitment to peace, and the genuine concern they have shown for the development of the state and the nation.

He assured the Governor that the traditional institution would continue to pray for the success of his administration and that of President Tinubu.

Governor Nasir Idris, while addressing the Emir of Gwandu and members of the Emirate Council, described the palace as a spiritual and political reference point for leaders seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings.

He recalled how former governors, presidents, and other national leaders, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, visited the palace before attaining leadership positions in the country.

The Governor explained that the purpose of the visit was to seek royal blessings and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

He noted that Kebbi State had benefited immensely from the Tinubu administration through various developmental projects and initiatives, emphasizing that supporting the President for another term would ensure continuity of ongoing projects and the delivery of more dividends of democracy.

At the palace of the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera commended Governor Idris for the massive infrastructural development and people-oriented programmes executed across Kebbi State, particularly within the Argungu Emirate.

He also praised President Tinubu for initiating major national projects, including the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, describing the President as a leader committed to national growth and unity.

The Emir of Argungu reaffirmed his total support for President Tinubu and Governor Idris ahead of the 2027 elections, describing Governor Nasir Idris as a leader who respects and values traditional institutions.

He offered prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress in Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole.

In his remarks at the Argungu palace, Governor Idris appreciated the Emirate for its consistent support and prayers for leaders at all levels.

He reiterated that the APC leadership in Kebbi State had resolved to support President Tinubu for a second term in recognition of the numerous federal projects and interventions executed in the state.

“My administration will continue to complement the efforts of the Federal Government in delivering meaningful development and improving the lives of citizens,” the Governor assured.
