Sultan Declares Sunday as First Day of Zulki’ida 1447AH

‎The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar  has declared Sunday, 19th April 2026 as the first day of Zulki’ida 1447AH.
‎This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, and Wazirin Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu.
‎The statement says the declaration follows the non-sighting of the crescent moon on Friday, 17th April 2026, corresponding to 29th Shawwal 1447AH.
‎It adds that Saturday, 18th April 2026 will be observed as the 30th day of Shawwal 1447AH.
‎According to the Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, working in conjunction with the National Moon sighting Committee, no confirmed report of the moon’s sighting was received from across the country.
‎It said the Sultan has accepted the report and declared Sunday, 19th April 2026 as the first day of Zulki’ida 1447AH.
