Ex-NNPCL CFO joins Senatorial race in Sokoto, commits to providing succour to Nigerians

Alhaji Umaru Ajiya, Ajiyan Isa, the former Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Ltd, has joined the Sokoto East Senatorial District race under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Our Correspondent reports that the former NNPCL CFO had already bought the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the race.
Alhaji Umaru Ajiya was also on Sunday endorsed by the leadership and members of the APC from the Sokoto East Senatorial District.
Speaking at the historic event on Sunday in Sokoto, the Ajiyan Isa said, ” God-willing, when I am elected, my priority will be collaborative efforts with the state and federal government to bring succour to our people in terms of security.
“My second priority is to rejuvenate education sector as insecurity has turned out schools into IDP camps.
“With IDPs occupying our schools, our children cannot to school anymore.
“Thirdly, as a problem in Nigeria today, not only in Sokoto State, the reality is that, we need to appropriate to fiscal projects that will touch the lives of the majority of our people.
“The federal and state governments are trying, but with revenue increase, it is hopeful that we can do better.”
“Therefore, Nigeria and all of us will be better for us.”
Describing insecurity as a most important challenge in Nigeria currently,  saying, “insecurity is a responsibility of everybody, not only the government but including the citizens.”
Alhaji Umaru Ajiya also solicited support to security agencies individually and collectively so as to facilitate their operations.
He further solicited for support to the government at local, state and federal levels, adding, “this is in the area of supplying information discreetly, so, we can tame this menace and our people can have peace once more.
“This is because th bedrock of our society today in Nigeria is security as without security, there cannot be farming and without security, there cannot be commerce.
“If these two are absent, there cannot be a viable economy.”
Alhaji Umaru Ajiya said that he was happy that his people have beckoned on him to serve, saying, “it is a privilege and na opportunity to do my best to ensure that the interests of my people are protected.”
He pledged to ensure that within the appropriation act of the National Assembly that his area and Sokoto State are not short-changed.
“So, I will work collaboratively with all the Senators and the leadership of the Senate to ensure that we have good projects appropriated for the benefit of the people of Sokoto East, Sokoto East in general and by extension, each and every state in Nigeria.
“Nigeria should be fairly and equitably treated.”
The former NNPCL Finance Chief who commended the people of the area for reposing tremendous confidence in him, vowed to live above board if finally elected.
