Sokoto Hisbah Board cracks down on immorality havens, nabs 11 suspects

In a bold move to crack down on the obnoxious activities of miscreants anc social misdemeanours, the Sokoto State Hisbah Board has arrested eleven suspects after a raid on a house beloved to be a haven for illegal social interactions with women, including minors.

This is just as the state government has intensified ongoing efforts to stem the tide of social vices and enforce public morality and sanity.

 Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports Board undertook the raid that led to the closure of an alleged immorality hideout and the arrest of the 11 suspects.

The raid, carried out on Wednesday evening in the Sokoto Cinema area of Sokoto metropolis, resulted in the arrest of men and women allegedly linked to activities considered contrary to moral and religious values in the state.

The operation was conducted under a special enforcement campaign tagged “Operation Tsaftace Birnin Shehu”, targeted at sanitising the metropolis and tackling acts regarded as social misconduct.

According to reports, operatives of the Hisbah Board stormed the  residence after receiving intelligence reports and petitions from the members of the public.

 The suspects were apprehended during the operation, while the building was sealed pending the outcome of further investigations.

The enforcement exercise was supervised by the acting Commander of the Hisbah Board, Imam Sirajo Abubakar, who also serves as the Director of Da’awah and Aids.

 The board shortly after the operation reaffirmed its determination to rid Sokoto metropolis of activities believed to be contributing to moral decay and the corruption of young people.

The board also warned the residents involved in similar acts to desist immediately or face legal consequences, stressing that the ongoing operation forms part of broader measures to preserve public morality and social order across the state.
