Security: Sokoto Rep. Urges Tinubu to Mend Ties With Niger Republic to Secure North-West Borders

A member of the House of Representatives from Sokoto State on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to mend the extant soar relationship with the neighbouring Niger Republic, with a view to securing the North-West borders.
“I am seriously advising the Governors to prevail on the President to ensure that we improve our relationship with our neighbours, Niger Republic.
“The current soar state of relations between Nigeria and Niger Republic is unbecoming and it is not a good omen for security,” he said on Tuesday in Sokoto.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that Hon. Dasuki, who is also the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives,  spoke shortly after he bagged an Award from the ADC Elders from his constituency, Kebbe and Tambuwal Federal Constituency.
Dasuki, who also bemoaned the recurring security challenges in the country, pledged to work tirelessly to make his constituency, Sokoto Sate and Nigeria in general more safer and secure.
Hon. Dasuki further called for more plausible measures by the government to remedy the obnoxious security situation across the country.
The Lawmaker also urged the recruitment of more forest guards across the country, while arguing that the Governors have the requisite money to adequately fund the proposed State Police.
While applauding the sterling leadership of the ADC leader in the state, Sen. Aminu Wazirin Tambuwal, Dasuki, saying, “he is too patriotic while he is never greedy.”
He appreciated the award from the elders and acknowledged the quality leadership being provided by Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu and his colleagues, repressing hope that ADC will win the forthcoming 2027 general elections at all levels.
Hon. Dasuki further vowed to provide a credible opposition to ensure the success of ADC candidates at all levels.
The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu, commended Dasuki for providing quality representation as well as his sustained efforts to empower his constituents.
The Chairman of the ADC elders in the constituency, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Sanyinna, also acknowledged the sustained initiatives of the Lawmaker to empower all categories of his constituents.
