In a major boost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, over 60,000 members and supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from Jega Local Government Area have defected to the ruling party.

The defectors were formally received by the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Monday.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Aminu Mustapha, former ADC Coordinator in Jega Local Government Area and former House of Representatives aspirant for the Aliero/Gwandu/Jega Federal Constituency, said their decision to join the APC was informed by the remarkable achievements of Governor Nasir Idris and the purposeful leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He noted that the APC has demonstrated a genuine commitment to the welfare of Nigerians and remains the political party with the grassroots support and national spread needed to meet the aspirations of the people.

Other representatives of the defectors said they were inspired by the leadership style, developmental strides, and people-centred policies of Governor Nasir Idris and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They pledged their total loyalty to the APC and assured the Governor of their unwavering support.

Responding, Governor Nasir Idris expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the APC by the defectors and warmly welcomed them into the party.

He assured them that they would enjoy the same rights, opportunities, and privileges as every other APC member, urging them to remain united and committed to ensuring the party’s victory in the 2027 General Elections.

The Governor also highlighted the achievements of his administration in education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, rural development, road infrastructure, and youth and women empowerment, stressing that his government would continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Kebbi State.

The event was attended by the Acting State Chairman of the APC, members of the State Executive Council, party leaders, and other stakeholders.
