The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, Sokoto State Project Implementation Unit (PIU), has held its monthly review meeting to assess progress and discuss key intervention areas.
During the meeting, staff reviewed the implementation of ongoing activities and considered several intervention options for additional funding as requested by the National Coordination Office and the World Bank.
Among the proposed interventions was support for livestock productivity, with particular emphasis on the establishment of Rugga Settlements—secure locations where livestock farmers can congregate, access veterinary services, and carry out their activities in a safe and organised environment.
Speaking at the meeting, the State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, said the initiative is aimed at reducing farmer-herder conflicts, improving security and animal health, and promoting the commercialization of livestock production.
