The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has expressed profound appreciation to media practitioners for their dedication and commitment to providing the public with credible and timely information.

Governor Idris particularly commended journalists in Kebbi State for their tireless efforts in keeping citizens well informed about the activities, programmes, and policies of his administration, describing the media as a dependable partner in governance and public enlightenment.

The Governor made the commendation on Saturday at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, shortly after monitoring the APC Presidential Primary Election in selected wards across Birnin Kebbi and Argungu.

He noted that journalists have continued to demonstrate professionalism and commitment in publicising government activities and ensuring that people at the grassroots remain adequately informed about developmental strides recorded in the state.

Governor Idris described the media as indispensable to society and a vital institution for informing, educating, and enlightening the public.

“You are doing a very marvellous job. You keep people informed and aware of what is happening in society and in government.

“Your contributions to public enlightenment and the dissemination of credible information are highly appreciated,” the Governor stated.

He reiterated his administration’s unwavering appreciation to both the print and electronic media in the state, emphasising that without the efforts of journalists, many government achievements and interventions would remain unknown to the people.

“I always thank the media because, without you, our people would not know what the government is doing. I am a labour person, and I strongly believe in the press because no matter what government does, if the media do not report and explain it to the people, they will not fully understand the efforts being made,” he said.

Governor Idris further observed that despite huge investments in infrastructural development and good governance, public awareness of such projects largely depends on effective media reportage.

“No matter how much government spends on development projects and programmes, if the press does not report them to the people, they may not know the extent of what government is doing. That is why your role is extremely important, and I sincerely thank you for your continued support and dedication,” he added.

The Governor praised journalists for their resilience, professionalism, and sacrifices in ensuring accurate dissemination of information, praying that God rewards them abundantly for their service to society.

“You have been doing a very marvellous job. I know it is only God who can reward you abundantly. Thank you very much, and God bless you all,” Governor Idris remarked.
