VON DG Praises Unity of Kebbi Governor’s Media Team, Seeks Enhanced Partnership with KBSG

The Managing Director/Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, has commended the unity, professionalism and teamwork among the media aides of Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, describing their cordial working relationship as a model worthy of emulation across the country.
He also pledged the readiness of VON to strengthen its partnership with the Kebbi State Government in projecting the achievements and investment opportunities in the state.
Ndace made the remarks on Tuesday in Abuja when he received the Kebbi State Commissioner for Information, Culture , Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, who led the Governor’s media team on an advocacy and courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Voice of Nigeria aimed at deepening the existing cordial relationship between the state government and the federal broadcasting organisation.
Welcoming the delegation, the VON Director-General described the visit as a “homecoming”, recalling his long-standing professional and personal relationship with Kebbi State dating back to his years as a reporter.
He reminisced about covering major events in the state, including the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival and other landmark government activities, stressing that Kebbi remained one of the most memorable places in his journalism career.
Ndace particularly applauded the harmonious relationship among the Commissioner for Information, the Chief Press Secretary and other media aides to Governor Nasir Idris.
According to him, such cooperation is rare in many states and reflects exemplary leadership, mutual respect and a shared commitment to promoting government programmes effectively.
‘ I know in many states you don’t see the Commissioner for Information in peace with the Chief Press Secretary or Special Adviser on Media.
‘ Iam happy in your case it is different, I see a sign of good relationship and leadership from the Commissioner’, he commended.
He urged the team to sustain the spirit of unity, saying it would continue to strengthen the state’s communication strategy and counter misinformation with credible and timely information.
He assured the delegation that Voice of Nigeria would continue to provide its platforms in support of Kebbi State, noting that the organisation now broadcasts in nine languages, including the recently introduced Mandarin, with plans to expand to Portuguese.
He explained that positive and factual stories about Kebbi under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris would not only reach audiences across Nigeria but also the international community, thereby enhancing the state’s visibility and attracting investment opportunities.
The VON Director-General also requested the Kebbi State Government to host a management and editorial team of the organisation on a familiarisation tour of ongoing projects across the state.
He explained that since Kauran Gwandu has achieved alot in various sectors, firsthand experience would enable journalists to report accurately and also become ambassadors of the state’s developmental strides wherever discussions about Kebbi arise.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, said the visit was part of the state government’s sustained engagement with strategic media organisations to consolidate existing partnerships and ensure balanced and factual reporting of Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.
He said the government remained committed to openness, transparency and strengthening collaboration with credible media institutions.
The Commissioner highlighted the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and security, noting that Governor Nasir Idris had continued to provide substantial logistical support to security agencies while implementing people-oriented projects across the state.
He also dismissed attempts by critics to misrepresent the security situation in Kebbi, insisting that government was working closely with federal security agencies to tackle emerging challenges while creating an enabling environment for investment and economic growth.
The advocacy visit featured extensive discussions on media collaboration, strategic communication and the promotion of Kebbi State’s development agenda.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to building a stronger partnership that would showcase the state’s achievements, promote investment opportunities and contribute to national development through responsible and professional journalism.
