Sokoto South LG Chairman, Ya’u Danda Begins Construction of Anguwar Mana Karama–Masau Road Amid Jubilation
From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
Relief has turned to a celebration in Sokoto South as Hon. Malam Ya’u Muhammad Danda, Chairman of Sokoto South Local Government Area, has commenced construction of the long-abandoned Anguwar Mana Karama–Masau road.
For years, the 2-community stretch served as a source of pain for residents, traders, students, and motorists.
During the rainy season, the road became waterlogged and virtually impassable, forcing commuters to take longer, costlier routes.
Access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities was routinely cut off.
That has changed within hours of bulldozers and graders arriving on site, residents trooped out in large numbers.
Market women sang, youths waved banners, and community elders offered prayers.
Many described the intervention as “a prayer answered.”
“There is no doubt that the residents of these areas are extremely happy with this laudable project of the Hon. Chairman of Sokoto South Local Government, Malam Ya’u Muhammad Danda,” a community leader at the flag-off told Reporters.
Traders in Masau said the road will reduce transport costs and minimize post-harvest losses.
Parents said it will make school runs safer for children.
Security stakeholders also welcomed the development, noting that improved access will aid patrols and emergency response.
Hon. Ya’u Danda has repeatedly assured the residents that infrastructure delivery would be the hallmark of his administration.
With the flag-off of the Anguwar Mana Karama–Masau road, he has turned citizen appeals into concrete action.
Residents have prayed for the speedy and quality completion of the project. They urged the contractor to adhere strictly to specifications, saying “we have suffered enough on this road.”
The Chairman is expected to conduct periodic inspections to ensure work progresses on schedule.
“Alhamdulillah, your appeal has been granted. We have commenced construction of Anguwar Mana Karama–Masau road because we listened, and we will deliver. Sokoto South deserves better roads,” Hon. Malam Ya’u Muhammad Danda, Chairman, Sokoto South LGA, happily remarked.
Danda also vowed to ensure the completion of the all-important project and according to the specifications.
The Chairman urged the residents to take ownership of the critical project by avoiding vandalism and assisting in monitoring the road works.
He vowed, “We will never relent in doing our possible best to complement the 9-Point Smart Agenda of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.”
