SUBEB TRAINS STAFF ON BASIC EDUCATION MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM

The Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, has intensified efforts toward establishing a reliable and efficient school data collection system started from the School ,LGEA level to SUBEB and down to UBEC Headquarters in Abuja through an online platform within this year.

The Executive Chairman disclosed this during the opening ceremony of a training programme for 58 Education Management Information System (EMIS) officers on School Basic Education Management Information System (SBEMIS), aimed at strengthening education data management from the school, LGEA level to the state level and down to UBEC headquarter Abuja.

According to him, the officers undergoing the training are expected to step down the knowledge acquired to Head Teachers in their respective areas in order to ensure the availability of accurate and reliable school data whenever needed.

Represented by Permanent Member I, Hon. Shehu Buda Badau, the Executive Chairman urged participants to pay full attention to the training sessions so as to achieve the desired objectives of improving education at all levels in line with the vision of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto for educational development across the state.

Speaking during the inauguration of the training for 58 iEMIS officers held at Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education and Senior Secondary Education, Dr. Sanusi Aliyu, highlighted the commitment of the present administration toward improving education at all levels.

In his remarks, the Director of Planning, SUBEB Sokoto, Engineer Tukur Muhammad Yabo, advised participants to remain attentive throughout the training in order to ensure the success of the programme.

Engineer Tukur also commended the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, for introducing innovative strategies aimed at improving basic education across all departments of the Board in support of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto’s education reform agenda.

Also speaking at the event, the Director of Administration, Alhaji Tukur Abdullahi, and the Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of SUBEB Sokoto, Malam Ahmad Umar Gidadawa, both urged participants to take the training seriously considering its importance and the need for them to effectively train others in their respective areas after the programme.

The training programme was jointly organized by SUBEB and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) with the objective of ensuring regular and reliable school data collection.

Technical Facilitators from UBEC Abuja and SUBEB Sokoto, included Dr. Ngozi J. Keke and Aliyu Umar Gatawa, provided detailed explanations on the objectives and contents of the training.
