A PDP aspirant for the Kwara State House of Assembly, Afon Constituency, Hon. Salman Ridwan Dan Sokoto, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment through education and entrepreneurship development.
Hon. Ridwan made the pledge while attending the Ogele Ward PDP Youth Summit held on Saturday, where young people from across the ward gathered to discuss issues affecting youth development, skills acquisition, and economic opportunities.
The summit, organised under the leadership of Hon. Isiaka Magaji, focused on encouraging young people to embrace education and entrepreneurship as pathways to self-reliance and economic growth.
Speaking at the event, Magaji urged youths in the constituency to prioritize personal development and enterprise creation, stressing that local businesses and vocational skills could help reduce unemployment in the area.
According to him, sustainable community development can only be achieved when young people are equipped with relevant knowledge and practical skills.
Addressing participants, Ridwan Dan Sokoto commended the organisers for creating a platform that allowed youths to engage directly on issues affecting their future.
He said education and entrepreneurship should remain central to the development agenda of Afon Constituency.
“The strength of Afon lies in its young people,” he said. “If we invest in your education and give you the tools to start and grow businesses, we will unlock jobs and opportunities right here at home.”
The PDP aspirant added that he was committed to collaborating with community leaders and stakeholders to connect youths with skills acquisition programmes, mentorship opportunities, and support for small businesses.
The summit also featured discussions on vocational training, digital skills, access to credit facilities for entrepreneurs, and youth participation in politics and community service.
Participants at the meeting called for sustained engagement between political leaders and youth groups to ensure that young people remain actively involved in decision-making processes within the constituency.
Ridwan Dan Sokoto thanked the organisers for the initiative and reiterated his determination to make youth empowerment a major focus of his representation agenda if elected into the Kwara State House of Assembly.
