ADC presidential primaries:  Atiku garners 68,823 votes in Sokoto

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar clinched 68,823 votes to emerge as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with the highest number of votes from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that the results of the ADC presidential primaries held on Monday were announced by the State’s Chief Returning Officer for the polls,, Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela.
The don also disclosed that Mr Rotimi Amaechi got 292 votes while Alhaji Mohammed Hayatuddeen got 319 votes.
Prof.. illela said, “I therefore hereby declare Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate with the highest number of votes in Sokoto State our of the total number of 69,434 total number of votes cast.”
Our Correspondent also reports that the event was attended by the ADC leader in the state and former Governor of the state, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as well as the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Manir Dan-Iya
Others were the party’s Senatorial Candidates for Sokoto South and North Senatorial Districts, Amb. Faruk Malami Yabo and Alhaji Mani Maishonko, respectively, the state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu and other chieftains.
