Hon. Salman Ridwan Dan Sokoto has formally declared his intention to contest for the Afon Constituency seat in the Peoples Democratic Party platform ahead of the next elections in Kwara State.
Dan Sokoto, made the declaration during separate visits to Odo Ode Aboto Ward and Ila Ward in Asa Local Government Area, where he met ward executives, stakeholders and party members.
Rather than hold a single rally, the aspirant chose to engage members in each ward individually, a move party supporters described as grassroots-oriented and respectful of local structures.
Addressing members at Odo Ode Aboto Ward, Dan Sokoto said his decision to join the race followed repeated calls from party faithful seeking fresh and accessible representation. He said his agenda would focus on rural infrastructure, improved primary healthcare and skills acquisition programmes for youths and women.
“I am coming to the Kwara State House of Assembly to serve, not to seek personal gain. Our people deserve a representative who listens, speaks for them and delivers results,” he said.
He also assured party members that if elected, he would maintain close contact with constituents and ensure their concerns are reflected in legislative decisions.
At Ila Ward, stakeholders commended the aspirant for consulting widely before making his declaration, describing the move as a sign of maturity and commitment to party unity.
Dan Sokoto urged members of the party to remain united and work together to reclaim the constituency seat, promising an inclusive campaign that would carry all interests along.
