Sokoto CP bolsters synergy with CJ, AG to boost dispensation of justice

The Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, on Wednesday paid familiarization visits to the Chief Judge of Sokoto State, Justice Muhammad Saidu Sifawa, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Nasir Muhammad Binji, at their respective offices in Sokoto.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Sokoto by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Ahmad Rufai.
The visits were part of the Commissioner’s ongoing engagement with critical stakeholders in the criminal justice system, were aimed at solidifying the existing working relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the Judiciary.
During the meetings, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa emphasized that the Police and the Judiciary are indispensable partners in the administration of justice, stressing the need for sustained collaboration to improve the quality of investigations, strengthen prosecution support, and promote the timely dispensation of justice.
The Commissioner further underscored the Command’s commitment to evidence-based investigation, intelligence-led policing, and adherence to the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) in all its operations. He noted that closer collaboration with the Judiciary would enhance the capacity of police personnel in managing emerging crimes and addressing issues that cause delays in prosecution and justice delivery processes.
In his response, the Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Saidu Sifawa, welcomed the Commissioner and his entourage, reassuring his continuing commitment towards working with the Police to facilitate the quick dispensation of justice in the State.
He reiterated the Judiciary’s readiness to support law enforcement agencies in ensuring that criminal cases are handled with utmost efficiency and in accordance with the law.
Similarly, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Nasir Muhammad Binji, reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and strengthening inter-agency synergy between the Ministry of Justice and the Police Command.
He emphasized that effective collaboration among all stakeholders in the criminal justice system is essential for good governance and the protection of citizens’ rights.
The familiarization visits concluded on a cordial note, with the Cp presenting a commemorative plaque to the Chief Judge as a symbol of mutual respect and shared commitment to justice.
The visits represent a significant step in enhancing the operational synergy between the Police and the Judiciary in Sokoto State, with both parties expressing optimism that the renewed partnership will yield positive outcomes in crime prevention, prosecution, and the overall administration of justice.
