Sultan calls for sighting of Safar 1448AH new Moon

The Sultan of Sokoto and president Nigeria supreme council for islamic Affairs Muhammad saad Abubakar has called on the Muslim Ummah to look out for the new moon of Safar 1448AH on Tuesday, 14th July, 2026, corresponding to the 29th day of Muharram 1448AH.
The call is contained in a statement signed by Wazirin Sokoto and the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu.
According to the statement, Muslims are requested to begin the search for the new moon on Tuesday and report any sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad saad Abubakar
