Rabiu Isyaku Rabiu hails Sen. Wamakko’s legacy of educational dev’t

Renowned businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Rabiu Isyaku Rabiu (Alhaji Karami), has commended the outstanding contributions of Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko to the development of education in Sokoto State.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Sokoto by Bashar Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Sen. Wamakko.
The business mogul also described the former Governor of Sokoto State as a visionary leader whose investments in the sector have transformed the lives of thousands of young people.
In a congratulatory letter dated July 2, 2026, Rabiu congratulated Sen. Wamakko on the milestone celebrations of educational development in Sokoto State, noting that his leadership laid a solid foundation for the expansion and modernization of higher education in the state.
He highlighted Sen. Wamakko’s role in establishing Sokoto State University and founding Northwest University Sokoto, describing both institutions as enduring legacies that have widened access to quality higher education and produced graduates making meaningful contributions to national development.
Rabiu also praised the former governor’s commitment to education through sustained investment, including dedicating up to 30 percent of the state budget to the education sector, expanding school enrolment, establishing Women Education Centres, and overseeing remarkable growth in tertiary education across the state.
Describing Sen. Wamakko as a teacher, administrator, former governor, and senator, Rabiu said his life’s work reflects an unwavering commitment to fighting illiteracy, reducing poverty, and empowering future generations through education.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Senator Wamakko good health, wisdom, and long life to continue serving humanity and witnessing the enduring impact of the educational institutions he established.
