Sokoto State Varsity set to graduate 6,000 students at 8th Combined Convocation on Saturday — V-C

Sokoto State Gov is set to graduate no fewer than 6,000 students at its 8th Combined Convocation on Saturday after about seven years, according to its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Bello Yarima.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that Prof. Yarima disclosed this on Monday in Sokoto at the University’s Pre-Convocation press conference to unveil a myriad of activities lined up as part of the week-long events heralding the Convocation ceremony.
According to him, there are also several First Class graduates that will be unveiled on Saturday, saying, “we are taking our real time to organise a world-class event.”
Prof. Muhammad Bello Yarima also said that the graduating students were products of the five Faculties of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor also said that several Honourary Doctorate Degrees would be awarded to so many deserving citizens from within and outside the state, saying, “all of them will be so awarded on merit.
“These are distinguished individuals who have contributed immensely to the educational and socio-economic development of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States as well as other parts of Nigeria.”
Prof. Muhammad Bello Yarima also commended Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, the Visitor to the University, for his sustained invaluable moral and financial support.
“He saw the budget for this convocation ceremony and he instantly jerked up the figure by several millions of Naira
“The Governor has indeed remained a true father and benefactor to the Sokoto State University and we happily cherish this always.”
The Vice-Chancellor also commended the Founder of the University, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for also being a dependable pillar to the Institution.
He specifically applauded his magnanimity of executing one of his constituency projects, saying, “the work whose scope is to expand the University’s library will soon be completed.”
He vowed that his vision is to in the next ten years, make the university a hub of entrepreneurship.
“The state government has also given us the clear mandate to produce students who can create jobs and not only job seekers,” Prof. Muhammad Bello Yarima, added.
The Vice-Chancellor also extolled the diligence and resilience of the management and staff of the University, saying their collective unwavering commitment is the key to the various successes recorded by the institution.
