Federal High Court, Sokoto adjourns ADC leadership case to July 13 for hearing
From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
As the leadership tussle lingers at the Federal High Court, Sokoto, the Court has again adjourned the case to July 13 for hearing.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto who was at the Court on Friday reports that the Judge, Justice Ahmad Mahmud Gama had on June 4,2026, adjourned the case to June 19 for hearing.
The Lead Counsel for the Ist Defendant, Dr Sulaiman Usman, SAN, had on Friday filed three various applications before the
Court .
Expatiating further shortly after the ruling by the Judge after a four-hour stand down, Dr Sulaiman Usman said, “There are three applications actually.
“The first one is a housekeeping application for extension of time which was granted earlier in the morning sitting.
“And in the afternoon
sitting because of the contentious nature of the applications and the opposition to
those applications, that’s why my Lord had to stand down for ruling.
” And the ruling has
been delivered. In the first application, the ruling is like what is called  one-
one draw.
“In one breath, we won the argument. In the other breath, we won the argument to the extent that the issue of originating summons or interrogatories has been decided by the Supreme Court in the case of Government of Kano State and EFCC.
“Though we tried to distinguish the ruling, the court said that if it decides that issue at this stage,
it will be as if it has determined the main substance or the originating summons the court to determine whether there is hostility of facts or dispute.”
Dr Sulaiman Usman added, ” the court decided to decline the request at this stage and refused that motion.”
According to him, the second motion was for the provision of further particulars by the Plaintiff.
He added, “We were able to demonstrate to court, paragraph by paragraph, especially in our written address and our evidence of court, where facts, allegations were made where sufficient facts were not put forward
to enable us to know the case that is made against us and then to respond appropriately.
“And where such is the case, the court of justice will order
those particulars to be furnished.
“So that’s why the plaintiff was commanded to furnish those particulars within seven days
and then we will respond within three days.
“And then if there is need for him to further respond, in case new issues arise, he has two days as I did in the last two weeks,  so that motion was granted in its entirety as prayed.
” So the court has adjourned the proceedings to the 13th of July for hearing.”
Dr Sulaiman Usman thanked the Judge for the judgment, adding, “I am grateful for the ruling.”
The Lead Counsel for the Plaintiff, Barrister Mathew Burkaa, SAN, conceded to the ruling and agreed to comply with it by providing the further particulars.
He said, “We are grateful with the ruling and we will comply with it.”
Barrister Shamsudeen A. Dauda Counsel for the 2nd and 3rd defendants also welcomed the ruling on the application for the provision of further particulars.
