ADC Ward Chairman Defects to APC in Sokoto South LGA

The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for Rijiyar Dorawa ‘A Ward and Chairman of the Sokoto South ADC Ward Forum, Alhaji Aminu Shala, has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He was received by the Chairman of Sokoto South Local Government, Malam Ya’u Muhammad Danda, who also serves as Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Sokoto State chapter.

Describing Shala’s return to the APC as a major gain, Danda said Shala is a seasoned political mobilizer whose wisdom and grassroots influence will strengthen the party in Rijiyar Dorawa ‘A. He added that the ADC had suffered a big loss with Shala’s exit.

The Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Aminu Rijiya, also noted that Shala’s defection would have a strong impact on the political dynamics of Rijiyar Dorawa ‘A.

Speaking on his reasons for leaving the ADC, Shala said his decision was driven by commitment to Sokoto South and by Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s appointments of indigenes of the area to key positions, as well as the ongoing developmental projects across Sokoto State.

The reception event was attended by the APC Chairman for Sokoto South, Malam Hayatu Muhammad; the Deputy Chairman of Sokoto South Local Government, Hon. Faruk Garba Soka; the State Sub-Treasurer, Malam Aminu Sani Liman; party elders of Rijiyar Dorawa ‘A; local government exco members; and other political stakeholders and business leaders.
