Sokoto Water Board GM Inspects 4.2MW Solar Project at Headquarters

The General Manager of the Sokoto State Water Board, Engineer Aminu Haruna Mika’ilu, has conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing 4.2 megawatts solar power project.
Engineer Mika’ilu visited the site alongside the Board Secretary, Alhaji Shu’aibu M. Boyi, and a team of Directors and senior officials from the Ministry of Water Resources.
The inspection was aimed at assessing the level of progress, verifying the quality of materials, and ensuring the project is moving in line with the approved plan and timeline.
Officials on the ground told the General Manager that work on fencing and securing the project site is nearing completion while the installation of solar panels has also commenced at the location.
Speaking during the visit, Engineer Mika’ilu expressed satisfaction with the pace of work even as he urged the contractors to maintain high standards and accelerate completion without compromising quality.
The 4.2MW solar project is part of efforts by the Sokoto State Government to reduce energy costs for water supply and ensure uninterrupted service to residents.
When completed, the solar installation is expected to power operations at the Water Board Headquarters and cut dependence on the national grid.
The General Manager further reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to delivering clean and reliable water supply, noting that investment in renewable energy will help stabilize operations and reduce running costs.
Engineer Mika’ilu applauded the invaluable support the board has been routinely getting from the people-oriented Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto in the last three years.
