Dan Sokoto Emerges PDP Candidate for Afon Constituency

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Hon. Salman Ridwan Dan Sokoto as its candidate for the Kwara State House of Assembly seat representing Afon Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dan Sokoto emerged victorious following the conclusion of the party’s primary election, which drew participation from party stakeholders and delegates across the constituency.
In a statement issued by the Dan Sokoto Media Team shortly after the exercise, the candidate expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.
He specifically thanked stakeholders from all wards in Afon Constituency for what he described as their steadfast support, guidance, and commitment to the democratic process.
According to the statement, the mandate represents the collective aspiration of PDP members and residents seeking progress, quality representation, and accountable leadership.
The statement also acknowledged the role played by youths in the success of the primary election, commending youth leaders and supporters for their mobilization efforts and active participation throughout the process.
Dan Sokoto further extended appreciation to women leaders and women across the constituency, describing their grassroots strength, organizational support, and contributions as vital to the victory recorded at the primaries.
He assured constituents that issues affecting women, youths, and vulnerable groups would remain central to his legislative agenda if elected.
The PDP candidate pledged to run an inclusive and issue-based campaign centered on development, youth empowerment, education, and improved livelihoods for residents of Afon Constituency.
He called on party members and supporters to remain united as the party prepares for the general election, stressing the need for collective efforts to achieve victory at the polls.
“This mandate belongs to every member of the PDP family in Afon Constituency who desires progress and responsible representation,” the statement added.
The emergence of Dan Sokoto is expected to shape political activities in Afon Constituency as parties begin consultations and preparations ahead of the 2027 elections in Kwara State.
