Why I Joined APC – Prof. Aminu Ibrahim

From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
A renowned, world-class Professor of Mathematics at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and former Rector of Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto, Prof. Aminu Ibrahim, has defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prof. Ibrahim defected on Friday at a brief but epochal ceremony in Sokoto.
Fielding questions from newsmen, he explained his reason for joining the ruling party.
He said, “Like I said earlier, my main reason is: I want to make my own contribution to Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, especially on his programmes on education and other sectors of the economy, for the well-being of our dear people of Sokoto State.
“I have noticed that as a learned person, it is a duty on me to contribute my own quota for the development of our dear people of Sokoto State.”
He described the programmes of the present administration as laudable and focused on delivering the dividends of democracy.
“The current government has laudable programmes aimed at delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Sokoto State.
“I thank you very much for this opportunity and I want to assure you that we shall assist this government to deliver on its mandate and its laudable programs for the benefit of the good people of Sokoto State,” he added.
Welcoming the don into the fold of the APC, its Sokoto State Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Sarkin-Gobir Adiya, commended Prof. Ibrahim for joining the leading and winning party in Nigeria.
According to Alhaji Adiya, APC remains the most formidable and united party in Nigeria that is unwaveringly committed to further uplifting the living standards of the citizens.
The Chairman further acknowledged that the 9-Point Smart Agenda of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has hugely and roundly transformed Sokoto State, saying, “this is a tip of the iceberg.”
“The administration remains patriotically committed to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people of the state like it has been tirelessly doing from 2023 to date.
“Prof., you are therefore welcome on board and we are now equal members of APC working to take Sokoto State and Nigeria to greater heights.
“The work has however just begun as the 2027 general elections are fast approaching, and in sha Allahu, we will succeed at all levels,” the Chairman added.
