SUBEB Sokoto Executive Chairman Urges Stronger Supervision of Schools

The Executive Chairman of the Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Umar Nagwari Tambuwal, has issued a strong warning and call to action to all the 23 Local Government Education Secretaries (LGES) across the state to intensify supervision of schools under their jurisdictions.

He gave this directive at his office while presiding over the 18th management meeting of the Board, attended by Board members and all 23 LGE Secretaries.

The meeting was aimed at deliberating on critical issues geared towards revitalizing and improving teaching and learning activities in schools under the Board.

During the session, discussions focused on existing challenges as well as new strategies introduced by the Board and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to enhance the development of basic education.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman provided a detailed briefing on a recent meeting he attended in Kano on the HOPE EDU Project.

He explained that the Sokoto State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, in collaboration with UBEC, has introduced new policies and strategies to improve basic education across the state.

He emphasized the need for cooperation and active support from all stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and overall improvement in the sector.

In a related development, the Executive Chairman, alongside Board members, received a courtesy visit from the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) at the LGEA level, led by the State Social Secretary, Comrade Murtala Dan Alhaji.

The visit was aimed at appreciating the Board’s efforts and informing it about preparations for the forthcoming elections of new executive members of the union at the local government level.

At the end of the meeting, the Executive Chairman constituted a four-member special committee under the leadership of Board Member, Hajiya Jamila Abdulkadir Dan’uti.

The committee is tasked with visiting the Second Chance School for Girls in Birnin Kebbi State to study its structure and operations with a view to replicating the initiative in Sokoto State.

The meeting was attended by all Board members, the Director of Administration, Alhaji Tukur Abdullahi; Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman, Malam Ahmad Umar Gidadawa Sokoto; Director of Physical Planning, Engineer Sanusi Umar Bunu; Director of Planning, Engineer Tukur Muhammad Yabo; and other principal officers of the Board.
