Sokoto Governor secures 2nd term candidacy as thunderous crowd of delegates affirm him

History was again recorded in Sokoto on Thursday as a thunderous crowd of delegates from across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state affirmed his second term candidacy of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu

Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that the epochal event was presided by high-powered National Election Committee deployed to  Sokoto State by the National Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The committee, headed by Alhaji Muhammadu Mukhtari Birnin, expressed satisfaction with the high sense of discipline,loyalty and decorum exhibited by the delegates.

Addressing the historic event, the elated State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiya, acknowledged the visionary leadership of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto under the wise counsel and fatherly support of the APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

According to the APC Chairman, the party is also happy with the overwhelming support and fervent prayers by the people of the state.

Alhaji Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiya further acknowledged the sense of accountability by the Governor, saying that he has fulfilled all his campaign promises.

He also said that the Governor has restored the hitherto decayed infrastructure of the state, acknowledging that he had brought Renewed Hope to the people of the state.

Also speaking, Alhaji Muhammadu Mukhtar Birniwa, said that Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto is highly recommended to vie for second term sequel to the giant strides he has recorded from 2023 to date.

Also speaking, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, said that the event was not to make a speech, but, “to thank the entire people of the state for their sustained tremendous support to the Governor and APC.

Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, also a former Governor of the state, maintained that Gov. Ahmed Aliyu came ready to squarely face all the challenges facing the state.

“He has done very well, he is doing very well and he will continue to do very well,” the Senator added.

According to him, the Governor has been indefatigable, humble, loyal and diligent, saying, “he is ready to take Sokoto State to more greater heights.”

Sen. Wamakko also acknowledged the tremendous support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the people and government of Sokoto State.

According to him, the people of the state will work to ensure the success of President Tinubu and all APC candidates at all levers during the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

In his acceptance speech, Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto described Sen. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto as a father, leader, role model anf mentor.

According to Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, it is heartwarming that the process has been seamless and orderly, acknowledging the diligence and fair play of the members of the National Electoral Commiteee deployed to the state.

He thanked the party’s leaders and members for ensuring his emergence as the candidate of the governorship party for the party for the second time.

Describing his affirmation as a call to duty, the Governor said that he is optimistic of his chances, saying that his decision to run for the second time was informed by his desire to consolidate the colossal achievements he has recorded from 2023 to date.
