The member representing Kankara/Faskari/Sabuwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, has officially defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The lawmaker has also secured the PDP nomination form to seek re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development comes days after Hon. Tafoki reportedly lost the APC consensus arrangement, where the party ticket for the constituency was said to have been given to Hamza Suleiman Faskari, who had earlier shown interest in contesting for the Funtua Senatorial seat.
Hon. Tafoki also presented his PDP nomination form to Katsina PDP leader, Yakubu Lado Danmarke, in what political observers see as a major shift in the political dynamics of the constituency ahead of 2027.
