Ezeagu commends Supreme Court over Electoral Act judgment

The Labour Party governorship aspirant in Imo State, Hon. Ifeanyi Thaddaus Ezeagu, has commended the Supreme Court for its recent judgment on the Electoral Act, describing the decision as a significant development for Nigeria’s democratic process.
Ezeagu, in a statement on Monday, said the judgment would strengthen the electoral system and promote greater confidence in the conduct of elections.
He said the judiciary remained an important institution in protecting the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy, adding that electoral laws must be applied fairly and consistently to all political parties and candidates.
According to him, the Supreme Court’s pronouncement would help clarify issues surrounding the interpretation and application of electoral provisions, particularly those capable of affecting the rights of political parties and their candidates.
Ezeagu urged political actors and stakeholders to respect the judgment and work towards ensuring that future elections were conducted in accordance with the law.
He also called on relevant electoral authorities to provide a level playing field for all candidates, saying Nigerians deserved an electoral system where their votes would count and the outcome would reflect the choice of the electorate.
The Labour Party aspirant said he remained committed to participating in the democratic process through lawful and peaceful means, urging his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
