The Executive Chairman was represented by the Board Secretary, Alhaji Mamuda Ahmad Wamakko, at the important meeting held from 21st to 22nd April, 2026, in Abuja.
The meeting, themed Enhancing Basic Education Delivery through Harmonized Systems Using Modern Technology, marked a shift from policy discussions to result-driven implementation within the 2025–2031 Strategic Framework.
According to Alhaji Mamuda Ahmad Wamakko, the meeting brought together key stakeholders from across the country to discuss strategies for strengthening the basic education system through innovation, collaboration, and transparency in governance.
Significant progress was recorded during the meeting, including the improvement of learning conditions for over 8.7 million pupils nationwide. Additionally, more than 244,000 teachers were trained in modern teaching methodologies, thereby improving the quality of teaching and learning in public schools.
A major achievement highlighted was the release of over ₦100 billion in matching grants, with 30 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) benefiting. This reflects improved compliance with grant requirements and stronger intergovernmental collaboration.
Discussions also emphasized the importance of the Digital Public Schools Initiative, alongside strengthening education data systems such as the National Education Data Initiative (NEDI) and the Basic Education Management Information System (BEMIS).
These reforms are supported by a revised funding framework allocating 25% to ICT, teacher training, and education data systems (EMIS).
The Board Secretary, Alhaji Mamuda Ahmad Wamakko, reaffirmed the commitment of the Sokoto State Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto to aligning with national education policies, leveraging modern technology, and adopting data-driven decision-making to improve learning outcomes across the state.
He further noted that the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) continues to play a vital role in promoting coordination, transparency, and accountability between the federal and state governments in the education sector.
He also reiterated that Sokoto SUBEB remains committed to advancing basic education through sustainable reforms and strategic partnerships.
In a related development, the Board Secretary, Alhaji Mamuda Ahmad Wamakko, also attended the National Flag-Off Ceremony of the 2025 School-Based Management Committee School Improvement Programme (SBMC-SIP), along with the disbursement of the final tranche of funds for the 2023 and 2024 cycles.
