Police Foil Kidnapping attempt in Sokoto , Neitralize bandit in Joint Operation

Anti-Kidnapping Unit in collaboration with other tactical security teams, successfully foiled a coordinated attack by a large group of armed bandits on Illela Village (Achida Town) and Kwargaba hamlet in the early hours of Thursday.
This was contained in a statement by signed by DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, Police Public Relations Officer Sokoto State Command, issued on Thursday in Sokoto.
It said, “At about 00:30 hours, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit received a distress call reporting that heavily armed bandits had simultaneously attacked both communities.
“Personnel who were already on high alert immediately mobilized to the scene alongside other tactical units.
“Upon arrival, the security operatives were met with heavy gunfire from the bandits. In the ensuing gun duel, which lasted for several minutes, the operatives overpowered the assailants.
“One bandit, who was clad in a military uniform, was neutralized. The remaining hoodlums fled with bullet wounds into the adjacent Gundumi Forest.
“Tragically, before the arrival of security personnel, one member of the Kwargaba community vigilante group was shot and killed by the bandits. His remains have been recovered and handed over to his family.”
According to the statement, an intensive manhunt is currently underway to track down and arrest the wounded escapees. Security forces are combing Gundumi Forest and surrounding areas, and further updates will be provided as operations progress.
It continued, “Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest security post.”
