Insecurity: Kebbe Chairman Moves to Secure Girkau, Deploys Troops

The Chairman of Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Hon. Musa Garba Kuchi, has expressed concern over the security situation in Girkau town following reports of infiltration by suspected terrorists.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Sokoto by the Secretary of the Local Government, Alhaji Shamsudeen Umar Mai’akwai.
Mai’akwai said that upon receiving intelligence on the movement of the terrorists into Girkau, the Chairman took immediate emergency action by seeking reinforcement of security personnel to protect lives and property.
“As a result of his swift intervention, three military patrol vehicles were mobilized and deployed to Girkau to strengthen security presence in the area,” he said.
According to the Secretary, Hon. Kuchi personally accompanied the security personnel, met with troops stationed in Kebbe and deliberated on improved strategies to checkmate attacks and restore full peace in the council.
He said during an assessment visit to some affected communities on Thursday, the Chairman reaffirmed that the Sokoto State Government under Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and the Kebbe Local Government Council would continue to provide all necessary support to security agencies.
Mai’akwai quoted the Chairman as calling on residents to continue to cooperate with security agencies and provide credible intelligence to aid their operations, while praying for Allah’s guidance and success for leaders and security personnel to end insecurity in Kebbe and Sokoto State at large.
