Sokoto South LGA budgets N8billlion for 2026

Determined to consolidate the provision of basic social needs to the people, Sokoto South Local Government Area of Sokoto State says it has budgeted over N8billlion for the 2026 fiscal year.
” This humongous amount has been budgeted by our local government, which is one of the two biggest metropolitan local governments in Sokoto State.
” This is to enable us to sustain the ongoing highly positive trajectory of even socio-economic development in the area to greatly complement the invaluable efforts of the state government in terms of providing the most basic and essential needs of the citizens.
“Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto is doing his possible best to give us all the funds needed to bolster the well-being of the people of the local government,” the Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Ya’u Danda told newsmen in Sokoto on Thursday.
Danda said that his administration had since defended the budget at the State House of Assembly, saying, ” it had also been duly approved by the State legislature in line with the Nigerian Constitution.
“What remains now is the diligent, transparent and accountable implementation of the budget to make it a real people-oriented document in line with commendable 9-Point Smart Agenda of our most amibale Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.”
Danda further said that part of the processes that preceded the production of the budget were Ward Town Hall meetings held in order to collate the real aspirations and needs of the electorate.
The Chairman explained, “In this direction, we met with all the traditional rulers and other the critical stakeholders with a view to making sure that the budget aligns with the basic needs of the people.”
Danda stated that his administration is fully committed to completing all the ongoing projects and initiating new ones across the local government.
He added,” In this direction, we will sustain the various forms of empowerment and assistance to our people, as well as support to traders and other artisans.
“We will also ramp up support to the farmers with a view to boosting agricultural and livestock activities, hence further guarantee food security in the state and the country in general.”
According to the Chairman, his administration will also sustain the various ongoing rural and urban road projects across the local government area.
Danda also disclosed that his administration has been prioritizing rural water supply, security, education, health and other developmental projects, among others.
He said, “We will also continue to build more Islamiya Schools and Mosques so as to boost the growth and development of Islam across the local government.”
Danda applauded Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for truly ensuring the full financial autonomy of the 23 Local government areas of the state.
He added, ” He has been ensuring that adequate funds are routinely disbursed to us to execute meaningful development projects and further empower the citizens.
“This is to further help tackle poverty, unemployment and enhance the general well-being of the citizens so that they can reap more dividends of democracy.”
