
Sokoto Governor approves construction of 20 additional solar-powered boreholes to bolster water supply

The Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu, has approved the immediate construction of twenty solar-powered boreholes as part of the ongoing efforts to address the challenge of inadequate potable water supply across the state.
The Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Aminu Abdullahi (Iyan Sokoto), made this known while briefing journalists during an inspection tour of ongoing water supply projects at the Mana Pumping Station and Rugga Liman Pumping Station.
He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work at both facilities, assuring that the projects are progressing steadily and are expected to be completed within the next ten days.
He further reassured residents of the state that, by the grace of God, the issue of water scarcity will soon be resolved within the next two to three weeks. He called on the public to remain patient and cooperative, noting that the government is committed to ensuring a sustainable and adequate water supply across Sokoto State.
Hon. Abdullahi also commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his visionary leadership, commitment, and proactive interventions in addressing the welfare needs of the people.
The inspection team included the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Nasiru Dantsoho; the General Manager of the Sokoto State Water Board, Engr. Aminu Haruna Mikailu; the Deputy General Manager, Engr. Ibrahim Al-Mustafa; alongside other senior officials and directors of the Sokoto State Water Board.
