In a decisive move to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and address emerging security threats, the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, Mr Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, on Monday conducted an operational tour to key sister security agencies within the state.
The tour, which aligns with the recent directive of the Inspector General of Police IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on the way forward in tackling insecurity in Sokoto State and the nation at large, the Commissioner visited the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and the Department of State Services (DSS).
This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, issued on Tuesday in Sokoto.
During the visit, the Commissioner of Police first met with the Controller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Sokoto State Command, where discussions centered on border security, migration patterns, and the need to prevent the illegal movement of persons and arms across the state’s international borders.

He reiterated that the Inspector General of Police has mandated all Commands to prioritize seamless synergy, intelligence-led policing, and joint patrols with other security services.
“The IGP’s directive is clear: we must break down silos and work as a unified force to protect lives and property. My visit today is not ceremonial; it is a commitment to operational integration,” the CP stated.
The heads of the visited agencies welcomed the initiative, pledging their full cooperation and reaffirming their dedication to regular information sharing and coordinated operations.
The tour is expected to birth a joint action framework that includes harmonized patrols, rapid response mechanisms, and regular inter-agency review meetings across Sokoto State.
