2027: VOTE APC AT ALL LEVELS TO SUSTAIN GIANT STRIDES – HON. SHAMAKI

The member representing Yabo Constituency in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Shehu Shamaki, has urged the people of Sokoto State to vote for all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections to consolidate development gains.
Shamaki, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Religious Affairs and seeking re-election, spoke to journalists on Saturday in Sokoto on preparations for the campaigns.
He said voting APC at all levels would consolidate the myriad of developments achieved under Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto from 2023 to date, predicated on his robust, all-inclusive and plausible 9-Point Smart Agenda.
He said that the pillars are security, youth empowerment, economic growth, water supply, education, environment, agriculture, religious affairs and local government autonomy, which has recorded over 90 per cent implementation success.
According to him, the giant strides include allocation of the largest share of the budget for two years to education, surpassing UNESCO benchmark, with renovation of schools, recruitment of teachers, and increased feeding and maintenance allowances.
He further averred that on security, the administration had procured over 170 to 200 patrol vehicles for security agencies, 40 Hilux and 700 motorcycles for the Community Guard Corps, provided 5G tracking systems, and constructed a military base in Illela and operationalized an Air Force base.
The lawmaker maintained that under the health sector, the government had rehabilitated 244 Primary Healthcare Centres and 17 General Hospitals, plus ongoing works at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital and the State University Teaching Hospital.
Also, it had revitalized township water schemes that ended years of scarcity, embarked on massive urban and rural roads and housing projects, and ensured fiscal discipline without resorting to costly commercial loans.
Hon. Shamaki also extolled the giant strides of the administration in bolstering religious activities especially with the massive statewide rehabilitation and construction of Mosques and Islamiyya schools, among others.
The lawmaker also lauded key federal government infrastructure in the state and across Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially the ongoing 1,068km Illela-Badagry Superhighway.
He recalled that it was a legacy project conceived 47 years ago by former President Shehu Shagari, linking Illela in Sokoto to Badagry in Lagos and traversing Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos, with concrete pavement technology.
He said that the House of Representatives in April 2026 approved a 516.3 million dollar loan from Deutsche Bank with N265.54 billion counterpart funding.
Hon. Shamaki also cited ongoing reconstruction of the 750km Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria dual carriageway, now converted to rigid concrete pavement for durability and scheduled for completion in 2028.
Hon. Shamaki elatedly applauded the APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for his invaluable and incisive mentorship, guidance and direction for the incumbent APC-led administration, describing his tangible tutelage as providing the direly needed elixir for Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, saying, “we are happy that he has continued to take Sokoto State to greater heights and more are coming.”
Shamaki therefore appealed that all should continue to repose tremendous confidence in APC and all its candidates at all levels, adding, “We should patriotically vote APC and all its candidates for the state and Nigeria to remain on the current commendable trajectory of development.
“Doing so means again trusting APC to continue to make Sokoto State better than it was before May 2023 and Nigeria as a whole.”
