ADC loses hundreds of supporters to APC in 3 Sokoto LGAs

The opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State has suffered another setback following the defection of hundreds of members from Gudu, Binji and Tangaza local government areas to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Sokoto by the Senior Special Assistant to Sen. Aliyu Magatakardan Wamakko’, Malam Bashar Abubakar.
According to the statement, the high-profile defectors include the immediate past Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Hon. Musa Ausa Gidan Madi, alongside other prominent political figures, including Hon. Faruk Mustapha Balle, Sarkin Arewa, Alhaji Attahiru Salihu Bashar Kalanjeni, Umaru Zuzu, and hundreds of their supporters from the three local government areas.
The defectors were formally received into the APC by the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Haruna S. Gobir Adiya, in the presence of the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, the Leader of the APC in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and other top government officials and party leaders during the flag-off of the Gidan Madi–Binji–Gande Road Project in Tangaza Local Government Area.
Welcoming the new members into the APC, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko described the mass defection as a clear endorsement of governor Ahmed Aliyu’s people-oriented leadership and a demonstration of the growing confidence of the people in the APC-led administration.
He said the steady influx of opposition members into the APC reflected the impact of the developmental projects being executed across Sokoto State.
Sen. Wamakko urged governor Ahmed Aliyu to remain focused on delivering more dividends of democracy while sustaining the inclusive leadership style that has continued to unite the people.
Sen. Wamakko expressed confidence that the achievements of the Ahmed Aliyu administration would continue to attract more supporters to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He prayed to Allah to grant the Governor continued guidance, protection, and success.
In his remarks, Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto congratulated the defectors on joining what he described as the progressive family and assured them of equal opportunities and fair treatment within the APC.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to executing more impactful projects across the state, saying his government would continue to justify the confidence reposed in it by the people of Sokoto State.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Faruk Mustapha Balle and Sarkin Arewa from Gudu, Hon. Musa Ausa Gidan Madi and Alhaji Attahiru Salihu Bashar Kalanjeni from Tangaza, as well as Alhaji Sayyadi Nuhu Binji and Alhaji Sani Ahmad from Binji, said their decision to join the APC was informed by the remarkable achievements of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu’s administration and the visionary leadership of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
They pledged their loyalty and commitment to the APC and vowed to mobilise massive support for the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
The defectors particularly cited landmark projects such as the Wamakko–Bunkari Road and the Gidan Madi–Binji–Gande Road, among numerous ongoing developments.
