Usmanu Danfodiyo Varsity loses Don

The Department of English and Literary Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has announced the death of one of its staff, the immediate past Head of the Department, Prof. Abubakar Atiku Alkali.

The scholar died on Saturday at a hospital in Abuja while his funeral prayer was held at the Gesse Phase II Jumu’at Mosque Birnin Kebbi same day.

The Departments of English, Linguistics, and French were represented at the funeral by Professors Shehu Sidi Ibrahim, Muhammad Ango Aliero, Muhammad Aminu Mode, Umar Muhammad Dogon-daji, and Doctors Muhammad Sajo, and Garba Ibrahim as well as some non-academic staff of the Department.

Mourning the deceased, one of his bereaved colleagues, Prof.Muhammad Sajo Sanyinna, said, “Indeed, the University  loses a hardworking and committed staff. May Allah grant him His rahma.

“May we also live and die with Allah’s rahma, amen. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun.”
