Sultan lauds HAFYDOF’S role on promoting Hausa-Fulani unity at 2026 World Hausa Day

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has commended the Hausa Fulani Youth Development and Orientation Forum (HAFYDOF), for its efforts in promoting peace and unity between Hausas and Fulanis and other ethnic groups in Nigeria.
The Sultan spoke on Wednesday in Sokoto during the celebration of the 2026 World Hausa Day, organized by HAFYDOF.
Represented by the Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sámbo Wali Junaidu, the Sultan described HAFYDOF’s peacebuilding initiatives as timely and vital, especially in addressing tensions between herders and farmers and fostering national integration.
Also speaking, the District Head of Kilgori, Sa’in Kilgori, Dr. Muhammad Jabbi Kilgori, underscored the need for sustained peace between the Hausas and Fulanis.
He noted that the cordial relationship between the two groups was founded by the legendary founder of the defunct Sokoto Caliphate, Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo, and must be preserved for the good of future generations.
In his remarks, the President of the Forum, Alhaji Nura Shatiman Kasarawa, said HAFYDOF is working round the clock to foster harmonious coexistence among Hausas, Fulanis and other ethnic groups in the country.
According to him, the forum routinely comes to the aid of distressed and indigent members, and remains committed to bolstering peace, unity and the socio-economic prosperity of Nigeria.
The 2026 World Hausa Day celebration brought together traditional rulers, youth leaders and stakeholders who called for more collaboration to promote cultural heritage, dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
