Sokoto Gov’t pledges continued support to security agencies, unveils assistance to Kebbe victims

Sokoto State Government says it will continue to provide all necessary support and assistance to security agencies in their efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities across the state.

Gov Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto stated this during a condolence visit to Kebbe Local Government Area over the recent loss of lives in the area.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Engr. Idris Mohammed Gobir, said the government’s continued support for security agencies is aimed at improving the security situation across the state.
He also urged members of the public to always provide useful and timely information to security agencies to enable them to take prompt action against criminal elements.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu prayed to Allah to grant eternal rest to the souls of those who lost their lives and give their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured.
Speaking later, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, announced details of the assistance approved by the state government for the victims and their families.
According to him, each of the 41 people killed—comprising 37 from Ungushi, two from Kebbe and four security personnel—will receive one million naira, two bags each of maize and millet, and one bag of rice.
He added that each of the 25 injured persons currently receiving treatment would receive ₦250,000, in addition to one bag each of rice, millet and maize.
In separate votes of thanks, the Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Bala Kokani; the District Head of Kebbe, Alhaji Lawali Labbo Margai; and the District Head of Ungushi, Alhaji Idris Abubakar, commended the state government for the condolence visit and the assistance provided to the victims.
Earlier, the Chairman of the area, Alhaji Musa Garba Kuchi, highlighted various forms of assistance previously provided to the people of the area by the state government.
