PDP Candidate Restores Electricity to Aboto Oja, 30 Other Villages in Kwara

Residents of Aboto Oja and more than 30 neighbouring villages in Afon Constituency, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, have regained electricity following the intervention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Salman Ridwan Dan Sokoto.

The communities had reportedly endured years of blackout after electricity poles were damaged, disrupting economic activities and exposing residents to prolonged hardship.

The restoration followed an intervention by Dan Sokoto, who reportedly mobilised resources to replace the damaged poles and restore electricity to the affected communities.

The development has been welcomed by residents, who described the intervention as a relief after years of living without electricity and appealed for sustained attention to their infrastructure needs.

Speaking on the intervention, Dan Sokoto criticised the alleged failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government to address the prolonged blackout, saying the affected communities deserved better attention from those in authority.

“For years, our people in Aboto Oja and more than 30 surrounding villages were left in darkness, despite the hardship this caused them. The people deserve access to basic amenities, and it is unfortunate that their situation remained unresolved for so long,” he said.

The PDP candidate said the restoration reflected his commitment to addressing the needs of residents, adding that public office should be about service and improving people’s living conditions.

“Our people deserve leadership that listens to them and responds to their needs. This intervention is about bringing relief to our communities and demonstrating that their welfare must remain a priority,” Dan Sokoto said.

He urged residents to support the PDP in the forthcoming general elections, calling on them to vote for the party’s candidates at all levels, from the presidency to the state House of Assembly.

“We want our people to support the PDP at all levels of the forthcoming elections. We believe that a change in leadership will provide an opportunity to address the challenges facing our state and country,” he added.

Community leaders also commended the intervention, urging residents to support Dan Sokoto and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.

They said the return of electricity would help ease the difficulties experienced by households and businesses during the prolonged blackout.

However, the restoration of power in the affected communities is expected to renew calls for improved electricity infrastructure and more responsive public services across Afon Constituency and other parts of Asa Local Government Area.
