Ndarani SAN inaugurates solar boreholes, empowers 100 women, youths in Niger

Alhaji Mohammed Ndarani Mohammed, SAN, has inaugurated six solar-powered boreholes constructed in Jima, Gbara, Manbe, Nku, Gazhi 1, and Evutagi communities of Niger, as part of efforts to improve access to potable water and enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of residents.
Ndarani, who inaugurated the projects on Saturday at Jima, also empowered 100 youths and women in the communities with N20,000 each, amounting to N2 million, to support their businesses and other livelihood activities.
The interventions, according to him, were borne out of his commitment to supporting grassroots development and improving the living conditions of people, particularly women and youths who constitute an important component of the society.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, Ndarani, represented by Alhaji Mohammed Baba Busu, Jakada Labari Nupe, said access to clean and safe water remained fundamental to the health, dignity and productivity of every community, stressing that the provision of the solar-powered boreholes was aimed at addressing some of the challenges faced by residents in accessing potable water.
He said the projects were conceived not merely as infrastructure but as practical interventions designed to make a direct and positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries.
According to him, the use of solar-powered systems would ensure sustainable access to water while reducing dependence on conventional sources of power and minimising the difficulties associated with maintaining water facilities in rural communities.
Ndarani said the empowerment of 100 women and youths was equally designed to complement the water projects by providing beneficiaries with modest capital to strengthen their existing businesses or start new income-generating ventures.
The learned silk urged the beneficiaries to utilise the N20,000 support judiciously and ensure that the gesture translated into sustainable economic opportunities for themselves, their families and the wider community.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said he remained committed to supporting initiatives that would positively transform lives at the grassroots, particularly in the areas of water, education, healthcare, youth development, women empowerment and other basic social needs.
He said meaningful development could only be achieved when communities were carried along and when interventions were tailored to address their actual needs.
Ndarani further stressed the importance of community ownership and maintenance of the projects, urging residents to protect the boreholes and ensure that they remained functional for present and future generations.
The legal luminary said: “These projects are about the people. They are about providing solutions to real challenges confronting our communities and giving our people the opportunity to live better lives.
“We must continue to support our women and youths because they are critical to the development of our communities. The N2 million empowerment is modest, but we believe it will provide a foundation upon which beneficiaries can build sustainable livelihoods.
“Our responsibility is not only to provide infrastructure but also to empower our people economically and socially. When people have access to water and the means to support their livelihoods, they are better positioned to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.”
He expressed appreciation to the people of Jima, Gbata, Manbe and Nku for their support, cooperation and prayers, assuring them that he would continue to identify with their aspirations and support initiatives capable of improving their quality of life.
The projects, he said, were also in line with his broader vision of contributing to grassroots development through interventions that have direct and measurable impact on the people.
Ndarani urged other well-meaning individuals, organisations and political leaders to complement government efforts by investing in projects that directly address the needs of rural communities.
Earlier, community leaders and beneficiaries commended Ndarani for the intervention, describing the solar-powered boreholes as timely and important, particularly in reducing the hardship residents faced in accessing potable water.
They also expressed appreciation for the empowerment programme, saying the financial support would enable beneficiaries to expand their businesses and improve their household incomes.
Some of the beneficiaries pledged to use the funds responsibly and expressed optimism that the initiative would contribute to improving their livelihoods.
The inauguration of the projects and empowerment programme further underscored Ndarani’s commitment to grassroots development and his efforts to complement government interventions through targeted community-based projects.
The four solar-powered boreholes are expected to provide sustainable access to potable water for residents of Jima, Gbata, Manbe and Nku communities, while the empowerment programme is expected to provide immediate economic support to the 100 beneficiaries.
