Disease outbreak: Isa LGA launches free medical outreach to ease residents’ suffering

From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
The Executive Chairman of Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Hon. Sharehu Abubakar Kamarawa, has initiated a free medical outreach for residents of the area following a disease outbreak in the state, as part of efforts to provide immediate healthcare support and mitigate the impact of the outbreak on affected communities.
A statement issued by the Press Unit of the Chairman’s Office said that the intervention is aimed at easing the healthcare burden on residents, particularly vulnerable individuals and families who may find it difficult to access or afford medical services during the outbreak.
The initiative also represents a timely response by the local government to address the emerging public health challenge, provide medical assistance to residents and support ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the disease.
Speaking on the intervention, Hon. Kamarawa said the decision to provide free medical services was informed by the need to respond promptly to the situation and ensure that residents receive the necessary medical attention without financial barriers.
According to the chairman, the outreach is open to all residents of the affected communities, irrespective of their economic status, stressing that access to medical care should not be hindered by financial difficulties, especially during a public health emergency.
He explained that the initiative is designed to ease the hardship faced by residents while providing immediate relief to those who may have been affected by the outbreak.
Kamarawa further assured the people of Isa Local Government that his administration would continue to take necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant health authorities and other stakeholders, to support efforts to control the outbreak and protect public health.
He emphasised that the local government remains committed to prioritising the health and welfare of its people, adding that timely intervention, access to medical services and cooperation among residents are essential to addressing the situation effectively.
The chairman also urged residents to remain calm, take necessary precautions and seek medical attention promptly whenever they experience symptoms associated with the outbreak.
He encouraged community members to cooperate with healthcare workers and comply with relevant public health advisories, noting that collective responsibility is crucial to preventing further spread of the disease.
The local government, he said, would continue to monitor the situation and pursue appropriate interventions to reduce the impact of the outbreak on residents.
The free medical outreach underscores the administration’s commitment to responsive leadership, accessible healthcare and the protection of lives, particularly at a time when communities require urgent support and reassurance.
Residents are therefore encouraged to take advantage of the free medical services and report suspected cases to the appropriate health authorities for prompt assessment and treatment.
