AIG Border Patrol Pays Visit to Sokoto State Police Command

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Border Patrol, AIG Nemi Edwin O. Iwoh, psc(+), has paid a visit to the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Hassan Hayatu Shaffa, at the Command Headquarters in Sokoto.
The AIG was received by the Commissioner of Police alongside members of the Command’s Management Team.
During the visit, AIG Nemi Edwin O. Iwoh stated that the purpose of his tour was to assess the operational readiness of border police units and strengthen inter-agency collaboration in curbing trans-border crimes such as arms smuggling, banditry, and illegal migration. He commended CP Shaffa and his officers for their dedication to duty, particularly in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and cattle rustling along the Nigeria–Niger Republic border corridors and some Eastern parts of the state.
In his response, CP Hassan Hayatu Shaffa appreciated the AIG’s visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to robust border security architecture. He briefed the AIG on recent successes, including the interception of prohibited items and the arrest of suspected bandits collaborating with foreign fugitives.
The AIG later inspected a guard of honour and undertook a facility tour of the Command’s Border Operations Control Room, where he charged officers to remain vigilant and maintain high professional standards.
