Emir of Lapai inaugurates two boreholes, N1m Support for 20 Indigents donated by Ndarani SAN

The Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umaru Bago Tafida III, has inaugurated two solar-powered boreholes donated to the people of Lapai by Barr. Mohammed Ndarani, SAN, to improve access to potable water and enhance the wellbeing of residents.

The Emir, who was represented by Alhaji Ibrahim Tafida Lapai, District Head of Gbachenku, also distributed N50,000 each to 20 youths and women from the emirate as part of the humanitarian gesture.

The projects, located at Angwa Gabas Kudu and the Lapai graveyard, were inaugurated in Lapai on Wednesday following concerns raised by residents over inadequate access to reliable water supply.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ndarani, who was represented by Alhaji Mohammed Baba Busu, Jakada Labari Nupe and Zonal Manager, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Minna, said the projects were his modest contribution toward addressing some of the pressing needs of the people and improving their quality of life.

The legal luminary said the two solar-powered boreholes were part of his efforts to improve access to potable water and enhance the wellbeing of residents.

He explained that while the borehole at Angwa Gabas Kudu was designed to provide water for residents of the area, the second facility at the graveyard would ensure the availability of water for people performing burial and other necessary religious rites.

According to him, the provision of water at the graveyard was particularly important because the place was sacred and deserved to be properly maintained and treated with dignity.

The Senior Advocate said the initiative was not motivated by politics or personal gain, but by his genuine desire to contribute to community development and assist people in need.

Ndarani also announced a financial intervention for 20 less-privileged and indigent persons from Lapai, with each beneficiary receiving N50,000, amounting to N1 million.

He said the financial assistance was part of his broader commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society and empowering people at the grassroots, particularly youths and women who often bear the greatest burden of economic hardship.

He explained that the decision to support the 20 beneficiaries was informed by the need to provide immediate relief and enable them to address some of their pressing personal and household needs.

The learned silk expressed hope that the gesture, though modest, would make a meaningful difference in the lives of the beneficiaries and their families.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously and, where possible, invest it in small-scale economic activities that could improve their livelihoods and strengthen their capacity to support themselves and their families.

Ndarani said he remained committed to initiatives that promoted human dignity, self-reliance and economic empowerment, stressing that genuine service to humanity required not only providing infrastructure but also extending support to individuals in need.

He encouraged other individuals and organisations with the means to emulate such gestures, saying that collective efforts by well-meaning Nigerians could significantly improve the welfare of vulnerable people and contribute to sustainable development at the grassroots.

The legal luminary urged the beneficiaries and the entire community to take ownership of the projects and ensure their proper protection, maintenance and sustainability.

He particularly appealed to residents of Angwa Gabas Kudu to safeguard the borehole for the benefit of present and future generations, while urging those responsible for the graveyard to ensure that the facility remained functional.

In his remarks, the Emir of Lapai commended Ndarani for providing the two solar-powered boreholes, describing the intervention as a demonstration of his concern for the welfare of the people.

The Emir, who spoke through his representative, Tafida Lapai said the projects came at a critical time when the people were in dire need of reliable water supply.

He said the location of the two boreholes at Angwa Gabas Kudu and the graveyard reflected Ndarani’s understanding of the peculiar needs of the community.

The traditional ruler noted that access to potable water was essential to the health and wellbeing of the people, stressing that the intervention would go a long way in reducing the difficulties faced by residents in accessing water.

He also commended Ndarani for responding positively to the needs and appeals of the people.

According to him, the provision of water at the graveyard was particularly commendable because it would facilitate the performance of necessary rites whenever members of the community came to bury their departed loved ones.

The Emir called on the beneficiaries and community members to protect and maintain the facilities, stressing that their sustainability would depend largely on responsible community ownership.

He expressed appreciation to Ndarani for the gesture and prayed Almighty Allah to continue to bless him, his family and his endeavours.

In a separate remark, Alhaji Umaru Sanda, Special Adviser to Ndarani, described him as a compassionate and selfless individual who consistently placed the welfare and empowerment of the people above personal considerations.

Sanda said the interventions demonstrated Ndarani’s belief that meaningful leadership should translate into tangible benefits for ordinary people, particularly those facing economic and social challenges.

He said Ndarani had continued to identify with communities and individuals in need, stressing that his support for grassroots development was not limited to words but was demonstrated through concrete interventions.

Sanda noted that the provision of the boreholes and financial assistance to indigent residents were part of Ndarani’s broader commitment to improving lives and giving people opportunities to overcome their immediate challenges.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the assistance and called on the people of Lapai to protect the projects so that they could continue to serve the community for many years.

Similarly, Alhaji Zubairu Aliyu, Sarkin Yaki Ndarani, described Ndarani as a compassionate person whose concern for the welfare and empowerment of the people remained a defining feature of his public engagement.

Aliyu said Ndarani had consistently demonstrated that genuine service to humanity required identifying with people at the grassroots and responding to their needs in practical ways.

He said the two boreholes would provide significant relief to residents, while the financial assistance to indigent persons would help beneficiaries meet some of their immediate needs.

Aliyu urged other well-to-do individuals to emulate the gesture by supporting initiatives that directly improved the lives of vulnerable members of society.

He said the intervention would not only provide immediate relief but also strengthen the bond between community members and those committed to their development.

The ceremony was attended by Rofyan Lapai, Chiroma Lapai, traditional rulers, District Heads, community leaders, religious leaders, elders, youths, women and other members of the Lapai community.

The beneficiaries and community members expressed appreciation to Ndarani for the intervention and prayed for the success of his future endeavours.
