Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Thaddeus Ezeagu, a Sokoto-based businessman and key coordinator in the 2023 presidential campaign of Peter Obi, has officially declared his intention to contest for the office of Governor of Imo State.
Speaking during his declaration, Ezeagu said his administration would prioritize security, quality education, job creation, and effective service delivery across the state.
“As a businessman, I understand the importance of creating opportunities, attracting investment, and building an economy that works for everyone,” he said.
“My mission is to restore trust in government through transparency, accountability, and practical leadership.”
He stressed that improving security would remain central to his agenda, noting that peace and stability are necessary for economic growth and social progress.
“No society can prosper without safety. We will work tirelessly to secure lives and property so businesses can grow and families can live in peace,” he stated.
Ezeagu also pledged major investment in education by upgrading schools, supporting teachers, and expanding youth empowerment initiatives through skills acquisition and employment programmes.
“Our youths are the future of Imo State. Across the world, young people are leading change, innovation, and progress. It is time to give them the opportunity to shape the future of our state,” he said.
He further called on elders and stakeholders to support a new generation of leadership.
“I respectfully appeal to our elders and experienced leaders to support this project.
With their guidance and the energy of the youth, we can build a brighter and more prosperous future for Imo State,” he added.
Political observers say his declaration has added a new dimension to the political landscape of Imo State ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
