Double tragedies in Sokoto as man stabs friend to death, another throws kid into well

Tragedy struck the Minanata area of Sokoto metropolis on Sunday after a man allegedly stabbed his friend, Malam Usman, popularly called ‘Giwa’, multiple times during a heated argument.
Eyewitnesses said the altercation started as a mere verbal disagreement before it escalated and the suspect, who has now been nabbed by the operatives of the Sokoto State Police Command, reportedly brought out a knife and stabbed Malam Usman in several parts of his body.
The residents were said to have rushed the victim to the hospital, but he had lost significant blood.
Doctors confirmed he died after his breathing stopped.
The incident has sparked outrage in Minanata, with community members calling on the authorities to take urgent steps to remedy the ugly situation.
Family and friends have continued to pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
Sokoto State has battled rising concerns over youths violence and banditry in its eastern LGAs, though the metropolis has been relatively peaceful.
The residents described the killing as unusual and disturbing.
In a related development, another tragedy struck the city last Friday when a man was said to have thrown a kid into an open well, resulting in his instant death.
The spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, who confirmed the two obnoxious incidents told our Correspondent on Tuesday in Sokoto that all the suspects in the two unrelated incidents had been arrested.
“All the two suspects are now being detained at the State’s Criminal Investigation Department and they will soon be charged to Court upon the completion of the ongoing discreet investigations,” Rufa’i added.
