A frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Kwara State House of Assembly, Afon Constituency, Hon. Salman Ridwan Dan Sokoto, has intensified grassroots engagement with a visit to Budo Egba Ward in Asa Local Government Area, where he attended a Walimat Qur’an ceremony.
The event, held on Saturday, drew community leaders, party faithful and residents, as the aspirant joined in celebrating the daughter of the ward’s vice chairman who completed her Qur’anic recitation.
Dan Sokoto, a philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of Dan Sokoto Transport Global Services, used the occasion to strengthen ties with the community, describing the visit as part of a broader effort to build trust and understand the needs of constituents ahead of the 2027 elections.
Addressing attendees, he expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded him and his team, pledging a people-focused representation if elected.
“Our mission is simple: to listen, to serve, and to deliver. This is not politics as usual, but a commitment to building lasting relationships with the people,” he said.
He identified infrastructure development, youth empowerment, agricultural support and improved access to quality education as key priorities for the Afon Constituency, noting that Budo Egba Ward plays a vital role in the area’s socio-economic activities.
The aspirant also offered prayers for the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, wishing them continued good health and prosperity.
Islamic scholars at the event commended Dan Sokoto’s humility and longstanding support for community welfare, offering prayers for his political aspirations.
In his remarks, the Budo Egba Ward Vice Chairman expressed appreciation for the aspirant’s presence and generosity, describing it as a demonstration of genuine concern for the people.
The visit is seen as part of a wider grassroots mobilization strategy by Dan Sokoto as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general elections in Kwara State.
